Alice was good
This spur of the moment concert was a weekday road trip worthwhile since many good affordable tickets were available the day before. I had not seen Alice Cooper in almost 40 years and forgot how good of a show he puts on, also picking stellar musicians to back him up. Orianti was awesome on guitar, Alice's set made.
I confess to being a casual fan of The Pirates of Penzance and had never seen them before. All of their songs do not sound the same on record. However, for this show, barely audible vocals and fireworks and other pyrotechnics that had nothing to do with the music made all of the songs sound the same. It was difficult to enjoy, with some young ladies nearby yacking their jaws through the whole show. I wound up leaving early, just after Live Wire. The horrible situation at the Coast Coliseum bars was another reason for me leaving early, but only missed a few songs according to the set list.
To give you an idea about how loud the fireworks really were, my motel room was only a half mile away. About an hour after I got back in my room, I heard the fireworks finale from INSIDE the Coliseum and INSIDE my third floor room that faced the Coliseum. However, it's NOT music. Any idiots with a huge budget can blow up all the fireworks they want for their show and have the crowd going, "Wow, man!". Now that is some loud, Not this puppy! However, I did buy some The Pirates of Penzance CD's the next day. Good music, but over the top on the live show, which is what most of their fans want.
